Sometimes the best way to stop focusing on our own stress and the things that are negative in our lives is to get out of ourselves and be helpful to others. What better time than the holiday season to get into the spirit of giving and be helpful to another person or family.

If you don't have money to contribute, consider contributing your time by volunteering at a non-profit organization, or donating your gently used clothing and furnishings to those in need.

When we take time to notice the plight of others that may be much worse than our own, we are rocketed into gratitude and usefulness that puts our own stress right into perspective.
